Call to the CDSA registrants to fill positions on the Competence Committee.

The Competence Committee shall carry out the powers and duties of a competence committee in accordance with the Health Professions Act, Bylaws and Standard of Practice: Continuing Competence.

Duties

The Committee:

  1. a) May make recommendations to Council on continuing competence programs, programs for self-directed professional development, competence assessments and the assessment of those requirements,
  2. b) May, if authorized by the Bylaws or Standard of Practice: Continuing Competence, provide for assessments of a regulated member’s competence as part of the continuing competence program and conduct an assessment of a regulated member’s competence, and
  3. c) May undertake any other power or duty given to it under the Health Professions Act, Bylaws and Standard of Practice: Continuing Competence.

Call to the CDSA registrants to fill positions on the Registration Committee.

The Registration Committee shall determine any issue with respect to registration or practice permits referred to the committee by the Registrar in accordance with the Health Professions Act and the College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (“CDSA”) Bylaws.

Duties

The Committee must:

  1. Review applications for registration as a regulated member to determine if the applicant meets or will meet the registration requirements established by the CDSA Council, HPA and Bylaws.
  2. Carry out its powers and duties under Part 2 of the Health Professions Act.
  3. Advise the CDSA Council generally on matters relating to the applications for registration as a regulated member that have been referred to the Committee by the Registrar.
