Dental Consultant Posting: Expression of Interest for Prosthodontists
The College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (CDSA), Professional Conduct Department (PCD) is responsible for investigating all written complaints against regulated members. To assist in the investigative process, the Professional Conduct Department utilizes Regulated Members in the function of Dental Consultants who are instrumental in assisting the Complaints Director in making a reasonable, fair, and informed decision.
The role of Dental Consultants enhances trust and accountability for both the public and the profession in ensuring safe and reasonable treatment is being rendered.
Successful Prosthodontist Regulated Members possess above average writing skills, the ability to conduct a thorough assessment of the investigative material and provide an objective, reasonable, fair and unbiased report.
CDSA values transparency, fairness, and credibility, therefore the following process with be utilized to select successful candidates.
Selection Process
PCD is seeking to add Regulated Members to the Dental Consultant Portfolio in the following Dentist Classifications: Prosthodontists
Prosthodontists are invited to express their interest in fulfilling the role of a Dental Consultant and are required to follow the requirements within Phase 1 – Expression of Interest.
Phase 1 – Expression of Interest
Interested Regulated Members will provide a cover letter addressed to the CDSA Complaints Director and shall not be longer than one page. The cover letter shall include formal education, number of years in the dental profession and as a Prosthodontist and why this opportunity interests you.
Posting Closing Date: All submissions must be received by the Complaints Director no later than August 29th, 2025
Prosthodontists interested in submitting their Cover Letter must send their submission documents to Professional Conduct Department Investigations Manager Pierre Blais, using email: pblais@cdsab.ca.
Phase 2 – Screening
All submitted cover letters will be screened and reviewed by the CDSA Complaints Director and PCD Investigations Manager for suitability to move forward in the process.
Phase 3 – Interview
Prosthodontists selected to move forward onto Phase 3 will be notified by the CDSA Complaints Director to partake in a virtual platform interview conducted by the CDSA Complaints Director.
The purpose of the interview is to assess your approach to reasonableness, fairness, objectivity, potential bias, and ability to work within designated timelines.
Phase 4 – Selection
Selected Prosthodontists from Phase 3 will be forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of the CDSA for final review and ratification.
Once the CDSA CEO and President have ratified the selections, the successful Prosthodontists will be notified by the CDSA Complaints Director.
Phase 5 – Training
Ratified Prosthodontists will participate in a 1/2-day training session facilitated by PCD In-House Counsel and Investigations Manager.
