The CDSA works closely with dentists in their dental practice to ensure that the safety of patients is of the highest priority. Dentists must adhere to the CDSA’s Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics
The CDSA assists and administers select responsibilities of a dental practice, including but not limited to:
- Ensuring all dentists have proper insurance and appropriate coverage limits and that the dental profession in Alberta is performing due diligence concerning public protection. This coverage is part of a dentist’s annual practice permit.
- Issuing permits for dental professional corporations to open and operate practices in Alberta.
- Issuing registration certificates for dental X-ray equipment, lasers, and facilities.
