  • Intake & Resolution Coordinator

    About the Position

    As an Intake & Resolution Coordinator in the Professional Conduct Department, you play a key role in the regulatory process. You support the early intake and resolution of concerns and complaints involving dentists in Alberta.

    You bring strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, remain composed in challenging situations, and support individuals in understanding available resolution options. You work effectively with the public, registrants, and colleagues in a fast-paced, team-based environment and contribute to continuous improvement in professional conduct processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the first point of contact for concerns and complaints assigned by the Manager, Intake & Resolution.
    • Review concerns and complaints by asking clarifying questions, gathering relevant information, and documenting communications accurately and objectively.
      • Provide guidance to members of the public, dentists, and third parties regarding available resolution options under the Health Professions Act.
    • Support early, informal resolution of concerns and escalate unresolved or complex matters to the Manager, Intake & Resolution, as needed.
    • Facilitate dispute resolution between complainants and registrants, including developing, communicating, and documenting resolution terms.
    • Monitor file timelines to ensure matters are processed within legislated and regulatory timeframes.
    • Work closely with team members to ensure files are properly diarized, documented, followed up, and closed.
    • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records in accordance with CDSA policies and regulatory requirements.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with the public and registrants.
    • Excellent active-listening skills and the ability to remain objective and impartial.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations and manage difficult conversations.
    • Ability to build consensus and support balanced, outcome-focused resolution processes.
    • Strong written communication and documentation skills.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and electronic file-management systems.

    Education & Experience

    • Minimum five (5) years of experience applying conflict-management or dispute-resolution skills.
    • Training or experience in mediation and/or dispute resolution is highly desirable.
    • Experience in an oral health, healthcare, regulatory, or professional oversight environment is considered an asset.

    Work Schedule
    Full-time: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

    This position is on-site, and the successful candidate will be committed to working at CDSA’s Edmonton, AB office.

    Salary & Benefits
    Starting salary: $80,000 per year, plus health benefits.
